How To Get A Cleaner and More Eco-Friendly Home

I’m on a mission — to make my home more eco-friendly and I’m starting with my cleaning products. There is one thing that can instantly put a big smile on my face and that is a clean home.

Now, I may not always enjoy doing the cleaning, but walking into a clean house just feels oh-so good. Do you agree? The pleasant smells, the dust-free countertops and grime-less stovetops are great but how are you getting them that way? If you’re wiping down countertops with harmful chemicals, there’s a better way.

Cleaner and More Eco-Friendly

I was introduced to a new line of eco-friendly cleaning products, Art of Green, and couldn’t wait to try them out. My main focus, especially having two young kids and dogs around the house, is the safety of my family. Art Of Green is non-toxic and safe to use around kids and pets — great for cleaning their toys and high chairs.

What is Eco-Friendly?

Eco-friendly, or environmentally friendly, means not using harmful chemicals or products that may harm the environment. Think about wipes that end up in our landfills or chemicals we wash down the drain which ultimately make their way to our rivers and oceans.

Using products that reduce or have minimal impact on our environment will help preserve our planet for future generations — and that’s our goal, right?

Some ways you can start being eco-friendly is by cutting down on plastic. We use plastic for just about everything from food packaging to water bottles. Most of these end up in a landfill where it can take hundreds of years to decompose.

When you think about it — there are pieces of plastic that were made in the early 1900s that are probably still sitting in some landfill unable to decompose.

Instead, try using a refillable bottle or bring your own canvas bag to pack your groceries. I recently purchased metal straws to take with me so I can opt-out of straws at restaurants.

You can also save energy at home by shutting off electronics instead of leaving them on standby. This not only reduces our carbon footprint but will also save you on your energy bills.

No Harmful Chemicals

Also, be mindful of the products you use that eventually end up in our waterways. Think about all the harmful chemicals you use everyday that we end up washing down the drain. They eventually make their way to our rivers and streams which end up in our oceans. This type of pollution can wreck havoc to fragile ecosystems causing animals and plant life to die.

Art Of Green is 98% naturally derived, which means less stress on our planet and a chance for a cleaner future. I was also really impressed to learn that Art Of Green grows their own high-quality raw materials without imports or deforestation. Their formula is also biodegradable and non-toxic meaning no harsh chemicals — safe for the planet and sensitive on your skin.

Another plus, Art Of Green does not test their products on animals which is a huge factor in deciding which products I bring into my home. With so many positive attributes, it had me wondering if the products were as effective at cleaning as they suggest.

Do Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products Work?

I instantly put the cleaning wipes to the test. I love the citrus & white flowers smell and the wipes were very saturated — no one likes a dry wipe, am I right? The wipes were tough enough to get the splattered oil off the stovetop and the dried-up spilled milk my youngest left on the counter earlier that day. Wipes also make it super easy to clean when you have a tot who refuses to get off your hip.

I also used the concentrated multisurface cleaner to clean around the toilet. We’ve been trying to potty-train and sometimes we don’t make it in time. I mixed the concentrate with water and was able to get the toilet and surrounding areas clean and smelling great!

Next, was the multisurface spray cleaner. This was great for cleaning larger areas like the kitchen counters. I sprayed it on a kitchen towel and was able to clean all the countertops in a couple of minutes. Anything to get more time with my family is a plus! It also did an amazing job on my wood dining room table. I wasn’t sure if it would leave it as clean and shiny as my usual cleaner, but it did!
