Do breast implants affect a woman’s ability to breastfeed in the future?
Studies show that 70% of women who have breast implants can still breastfeed after giving birth. Studies also show that about 70% of women have the inability to breastfeed even without implants so chances are that if you could beast feed before your implants, you will still be able to breastfeed after having implants.
What are textured implants?
Both saline and silicone implants can come with a textured outer surface. Creators of the textured implant thought the texture may adhere to the surrounding tissue keeping the implant from moving around and prevent scar tissue formation.
However, textured implants have been linked to a very rare form of cancer and therefore taken off the market.
What Are Some Complications from Breast Augmentation Surgery?
Some issues that may arise after having breast augmentation surgery is swelling, bruising, infection, scarring, and bleeding (hematoma). Complications from the actual implant include ruptures and capsular contracture.
Capsular contracture is when the body reacts to a foreign object in the body (implant) that distorts the breast shape and cause pain.
Do Breast Implants Need To Be Changed Every 10 Years?
The FDA suggests changing breast implants every 10 years but that is not the only reason someone may choose to swap them out. Some saline implants may leak, you’ve developed capsular contracture, the implants are uneven.
When deciding on whether or not to get breast implants, remember that they are not permanent and you will likely need additional surgeries down the road.
Do Breast Implants Give You Breast Cancer? Do They Affect Mammograms?
According to studies, breast implants do not increase your likelihood of developing breast cancer and do not affect the detection of breast cancer.
If you are at the recommended age to get annual mammogram checkups, it is recommended you schedule your breast surgery AFTER getting checked.
I hope some of your questions were answered in this interview. Again, you are encouraged to speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon before undergoing breast augmentation surgery.
