I’ve been seeing more and more of the luxury British skincare brand ELEMIS on my social channels so when they sent me a few skincare products to try, I jumped at the chance to try them for the first time and do an ELEMIS skincare review.
ELEMIS has been a UK favorite for over 30 years and it’s quickly evolved into the go-to skincare brand for many in the US and around the world.
Founded in 1989, the ELEMIS brand marries powerful active ingredients to deliver clinically tested results with a focus on a holistic approach and skin wellness.
Right away I loved the scents. While many prefer fragrance-free skincare (they have that too!), ELEMIS uses natural ingredients, such as rose, to get the spa-like aroma.
I’m huge into relaxing scents and their products have a slight, not overbearing, aroma you will enjoy.
The best part of this ELEMIS skincare review is that these products are geared towards anti-aging. Being in my mid-30s, I take an active approach toward keeping my skin as youthful-looking, and healthy as possible.
Feeding my skin ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, and regular exfoliating with chemicals such as AHA (more about this below) help me preserve my skin.
BEST ELEMIS PRODUCTS FOR AGING SKIN
ELEMIS has truly lived up to the hype and it’s a brand that you need to incorporate into your skincare routines. There are, however, three items that immediately stood out during my trial.
These not only felt amazing on my skin but also gave me near-immediate results.
Now, it’s important to mention that results from starting a new skincare line or product usually take a few months.
Because these products are new to me and have only been tried for a few weeks, this honest ELEMIS review is based on initial thoughts and first impressions.
My experience has been great so far — no irritation, no clogged pores, or skin sensitivity.
That being said I do recommend giving products time to work their magic — usually about 3 months of consistent use.
ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads
If it’s one thing I love in my skincare routine, it’s a good chemical exfoliator. These resurfacing facial pads are soaked in a patented Tri-Enzyme Technology for gently exfoliating and smoother skin.
The pads are formulated with Lactic Acid and Probiotic Ferment Complex, to accelerate the skin’s natural cell turnover in 28 days. It is very gentle and will not dry out your skin. I find that I wake up the next morning with brighter skin.
These dynamic resurfacing pads help reduce the look of dark spots and help with texture and tone. For best results, you can use it twice a day. This will assist with the skin’s natural cell turnover.
The pads are textured for added physical exfoliation. I loved how bright my skin looked after just one use. It’s very mild with a light fragrance.
I enjoyed using these exfoliating pads at night. I would use one pad every 2-3 days but did not use it on days that I applied my retinol for fear of overstimulating my skin.
PRO TIP: To get more use out of your pads, cut each one in half. The pads are soaked in product and enough to cover your entire face with just half the pad.
If you want to try the resurfacing pads but are not ready to pay $64 for 60 pads, you can start with 14 pads (28 if you use our pro tip) for $25.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Eye REVIVE MASK
This pro-collagen eye mask is such a treat. The bouncy gel texture feels cool and refreshing on the skin and instantly leaves the eye area looking smoother and more youthful.
This eye cream is formulated with marine actives and antioxidants such as wrinkle-reducing Watermelon Snow Algae. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid — great at improving the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hyaluronic Acid is the holy grail in moisturizers. Because it pulls in moisture from the atmosphere and holds 1,000 times its weight in water, you’ll get results you can see.
It applies clear and the skin just drinks it up. It is hydrating and perfect to wear under makeup. The anti-wrinkle pro-collagen eye mask is a great addition if you suffer from tired eyes or fine lines like myself.
I felt like I woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when I applied this mask overnight. For added effect, I placed this mask in my fridge and would apply a small amount in the morning. Trust me, try it!
ELEMIS Pro Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30
I haven’t always worn moisturizer or any day cream in the mornings. I felt like my skin would look super shiny when applied to my oily skin. But as I got older, I realized the importance of an anti-aging cream during the day and night.
However, I did notice that when I applied the pro-collagen marine cream in the mornings on a hot day, it would make my face ‘sweat’ profusely. I don’t believe it was actual sweat but rather the product melting off my face. It was not pleasant.
As the weather started to cool in the fall, I did enjoy using the cream under my makeup. It provided a nice base and hydrating barrier for my foundation.
This also helped with dry spots that tend to collect and oxidize certain foundations and made my skin feel hydrated.
Because of the added SPF, the pro-collagen marine cream made my morning routine easier with fewer products to apply. It has a very pleasant scent and feels like a dream.
It’s formulated with marine and plant actives which help with the look of firmness and elasticity.
The powerful marine and anti-aging ingredients include Padina Pavonica, Chlorella, and Ginkgo Biloba. I’m looking forward to continuing to use these collagen products and can’t wait to see the results after a few months.
The ELEMIS marine cream is pricey. For 50ml you can expect to pay $138. The cheapest ELEMIS Marine Cream is the 15ml size and runs for $50.
ELEMIS SUPERFOOD FACIAL OIL
Next, the ELEMIS Superfood facial oil. I use face oils as the last step in my nighttime skincare routine to lock in hydration.
The facial oil is not thick, but very hydrating and nourishes the skin. I wake up the next morning with hydrated, supple skin. And the best part is that it doesn’t clog my pores.
Facial oil is the newest product to my routine, mainly because of the preconceived notion that oil and acne-prone skin don’t mix. Quite the contrary. I think one thing that we oily-skin girls are missing is proper hydration.
This facial oil is infused with 9 antioxidant-rich superfoods for a radiant glow. And who doesn’t want a glow-up?
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
The ELEMIS Pro-Collagen cleansing balms are a crowd favorite. It’s one of the best sellers for this luxury skincare brand, but I have some thoughts to share.
The consistency is that of a thick, almost vaseline-like without the sticky or greasiness. I enjoyed the experience and it did a great job of melting my makeup.
Formulated with a blend of rich oils alongside fatty acids, the anti-aging cleansing balm does feel amazing on the skin and right after you wipe it off. The cleansing balm left my skin feeling supple and hydrated.
However, at nearly $70, I thought the price point for the ELEMIS cleansing balm was on the higher side for a product that you are just going to wipe off your face.
DUPE FOR ELEMIS CLEANSING BALM
While I am a big proponent of double cleansing, I have found an ELEMIS cleansing balm dupe at a fraction of the cost and works just as well.
The ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is one item I wouldn’t purchase unless it was at a major discount.
Here are a few more ELEMIS cleansing balm dupes I’ve tried and loved:
