Planning for what to wear for your vacation can be a little overwhelming. Especially when traveling to a destination with a diverse range of activities and attractions such as Mexico.

Most people visit Mexico for its beautiful beaches and relaxing resorts, but there is much more to see.

The last time I visited Mexico was in 2019. It was our first international vacation since Ava was born and let’s just say packing cute outfits was the last thing on my mind. I was so preoccupied with making sure the girls had everything they needed.

We stayed at the Garza Blanca Resort in Puerto Vallarta, which was amazing.

The room was unreal; kind of like an apartment with an entire kitchen, living room, and huge bedroom with a large balcony.

We spent most of our stay at the resort by the pool or the private beach. We did, however, venture out to the town of Puerto Vallarta to do a little sightseeing and shopping.

We’re planning another trip soon and hope to get to more of the beautiful destinations Mexico has to offer.

If you’re looking for what to wear in Mexico, you’ll first need to pinpoint the activities you’ll be participating in. Are you headed to a beach resort? Will you be hiking through ancient cities or exploring a colonial town?

Some other Mexico destination activities may include:

  1. Explore Ancient Ruins: Visit Chichen Itza, Teotihuacan, or Tulum to explore ancient Mayan and Aztec ruins.
  2. Relax on Beautiful Beaches: Enjoy the stunning beaches in destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Puerto Vallarta.
  3. Discover Colonial Cities: Explore historic colonial cities such as Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, and Oaxaca City, known for their architecture, art, and culture.
  4. Hike and Adventure Sports: Embark on outdoor adventures like hiking, zip-lining, and rock climbing in places like Chiapas and Jalisco.
  5. Relax in Hot Springs: Visit hot springs like Grutas Tolantongo for a relaxing and scenic experience.
  6. Explore Cenotes: Dive or swim in the natural sinkholes called cenotes, found in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Another travel consideration will be the time of year you are planning your vacation. Will it be in the summer or winter?

Once you’ve narrowed down your travel itinerary, you can start brainstorming some cute Mexico vacation outfit ideas.

While you may plan to spend most of your time at the beach resort or poolside, don’t forget to take in the Mexican culture while on your trip.

Whether you plan on visiting the ancient Mayan ruins or shopping in Oaxaca, you’ll want to dress correctly.

You could wear a sundress with sandals or, if you plan a longer hike, you may want to opt for denim shorts, a linen top, and sneakers.

Also, don’t forget your sunscreen, wide-brim hat and sunglasses.

The resort may have a lot of activities from fun pool events to fine dining options. It’s best to prepare for such events by packing a range of items from swimsuits and sandals to dresses and heels.

While dining experiences may lean a little more casual, you will want to dress up a little more than just a swimsuit and coverup.

Crochet is a fun spring and summer fabric that can also be dressed up. Pair a crochet dress with heels or you could wear some linen pants with a cropped top.

You can not go wrong with a flowy midi or maxi dress for an evening event. Place your hair in a bun with hoop earrings to dress up a simple black dress.
