It can be easy to get a little out of hand purchasing items from the sale — I’ve learned the hard way.

I too have been consumed with the discount chaos that I purchased items I barely used. This was such a waste of money as I started out my business.

How much is this item and how many times can I wear it?

Here are a few more questions to ask yourself before making a purchase:

Do I already own a similar item?
Where can I wear this item?
Would I purchase this full-price?
Is this item trendy?

To start, look at your closet and inventory what you already have. How many cable knit sweaters does one need?

Next, think about all the outfit possibilities. I’ve learned that long, heavy coats hardly get any play with me living in the South. The past few Christmases were spent in shorts, so probably not a good idea for me to add another coat.

Also, is the item you are looking to purchase something you would pay for at full price? If it’s that good of a purchase, then go ahead and add it to the cart.

And finally, is this more of a trendy item? Remember, trends come and go. If you are on a budget and want to extend your dollars, look for classic-style pieces you can wear for years to come.
