This Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask once sold out in under 5 hours and had 8,000 people on a waitlist — what’s all the hype? I decided to try it out myself and here are my thoughts.
I have oily skin and while I may not suffer from dry spots, I know moisturizing is essential, even for acne-prone skin. My dilemma is that many of the moisturizers I have tried in the past either clog pores or they aggravate my skin.

I’ve even gone so far as to nix moisturizer altogether and instead doubled down on the hyaluronic acid to retain moisture. I first learned about Glow Recipe from a podcast where the host interviewed both founders of this clean beauty brand. Here’s a little back story about how this small K-beauty brand blew up.
About Glow Recipe
In 2014, two friends, Sarah and Christine decided to launch their very own skincare line inspired by their love for K-beauty. K-beauty is the term used for skincare products derived from South Korea. Traditionally, Korean women preferred glowy, ‘glass’ skin instead of layers and layers of makeup.
To achieve this, women would follow an extensive 10-step skincare regime that included toning and moisturizing to achieve luminous skin free of hyper-pigmentation and impurities.
While Glow Recipe doesn’t include a regime like this, they have curated products that help achieve similar effects. Moisturizing not only helps balance your skin, but it can also help with acne, fine lines, and wrinkles.
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is a pink, bouncy formula that smells like — you guessed it — watermelon! It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid for hydration and AHA ( alpha hydroxy acid) for exfoliating. Rich in amino acid, the watermelon extract hydrates, soothes, and fights damaging free radicals that cause discoloration and fine lines.
The formula also includes pumpkin extract, rich in antioxidants to repair skin and defend against free radicals.
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is also free from parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, and synthetic dyes and is vegan and leaping bunny certified cruelty-free.
How To Use The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
You can either use the mask for 10 minutes or keep it on while you sleep. I like to apply a thin layer on my face before bed and rinse it off in the morning. A small spatula is included, which you use to scoop the face mask and layer it on your face.
Take a full scoop of the product and apply it to the face. Gently pat the product on your skin. I recommend waiting a few minutes before jumping in bed to allow the product to absorb.
When I wake, I notice my skin is hydrated and slightly tacky due to the product. I wash off with warm water and my skin looks and feels amazing! Definitely a favorite product of mine right now.
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask comes in two sizes, 80 ml for about $45 and 30 ml for about $22. A little product goes a long way so you will get a lot of applications for the price.
If you’re looking for mega-hydration, I would definitely recommend the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. You’ll love waking up to supple, dewy skin; I know I do.
How Often Should I Use Watermelon Glow Mask?
Because Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Sleeping Mask is a chemical exfoliant, you may need to increase resistance if you’re new to AHAs. Start by applying a small amount for 10 minutes and wash it off before bed. You can do this 2-3 times a week gradually working your way up to use daily.
